Rhino Africa Safaris

It is with pride that Rhino Africa Safaris announce the launch of their latest travel website, Out2Africa. Out2Africa is the first web-based tour operator to cater exclusively to the needs of the international gay traveller to Southern Africa.

Where other South African based gay websites focus on individual destinations, Out2Africa.com offers a comprehensive guide to inbound travel to the whole of Southern Africa, offering tailor-made itineraries created by a personal travel planner. The website includes useful information for discerning gay travellers and is worth a visit just for the unique, cheeky and flamboyantly honest copy.

A new US survey was completed by Harris Interactive and Witeck-Combs Communications in 2006. The survey examined trends in personal travel among gays and lesbians and revealed that gays and lesbians (79%) are more likely than heterosexuals (54%) to go online to book hotel accommodations for personal travel.

“When booking accommodations, online services are truly the default option for substantial numbers of gay and lesbian travelers,” said Senior Communications & Marketing Strategist of Witeck-Combs Communications.

The mastermind behind Out2Africa.com, David Ryan has researched these trends and is positive that Out2Africa.com will be as successful as the existing online travel site, www.RhinoAfrica.com. David has an extensive history in the Southern African travel industry and launched RhinoAfrica.com a number of years ago, with the concept of offering a personalised service to overseas visitors to Southern Africa. Ryan has successfully entrenched RhinoAfrica.com as one of the leading tour operators in online travel to the sub-continent.

“Our business model has worked so well for RhinoAfrica,” said Ryan, MD of RhinoAfrica, “that we decided to develop Out2Africa.com, this time focusing on the gay travel industry that has been significantly under-serviced until this point.”

Out2Africa.com aims to fill a gap in the market, by offering a sophisticated and friendly travel service to gay travellers wanting to visit Cape Town, Kruger and anywhere in between!”

The 2006 Harris Interactive and Witeck-Combs Communications also revealed that 14% of gay and lesbian adults say that they are planning to travel to an overseas destination for their next holiday. This is compared to 7% of heterosexual adults.

Out2Africa.com has carefully selected the accommodation on their website to represent gay friendly accommodation and the accommodation is rated according to how much “fairy dust” it has. This was definite foresight by Ryan as 16% of gays and lesbians are more likely than non-gays (4%) to cite a hotels fair treatment of guests as one of their three most important considerations when selecting hotels.
As is only befitting a service to gay men, the website is chic and stylish with great images that have been taken all over Southern Africa specifically for the website. The snappy copy on Out2Africa.com summarises their services as such: “A list of what we don’t do would be shorter. Nothing is too much trouble and we offer a comprehensive gay travel service including flights, car hire, accommodation, tours and day-trips.”

“From Hot Air Ballooning over the Masai Mara, to the tastiest restaurants in Cape Town, or the best place to photograph wild Cheetahs we can help!” said Ryan “So whether it is a few days away or a journey of a lifetime Out2Africa will organise everything and even speak the gay travel lingo along the way.”
