Chobe Chilwero
Chobe, Botswana
- Exclusive five-star luxury on the banks of the Chobe River
- Fine dining, excellent wines and attentive service
- Game viewing activities on land and water
Chobe Chilwero is a double-ply lodge with rustic African style covering a sophisticated hotel.
Deep in the African bush – like every lodge in Botswana – and overlooking the Chobe River, Chilwero is an exclusive five-star mansion with 15 luxurious bungalows overlooking the river.
Elaborate mahogany and marble-top counters mix with rough timber beams and hand-crafted concrete baths. The gracious thatched bungalows are air conditioned and have additional outdoor showers, river-facing terraces and private gardens.
Dining is a silver service melding of cultures north and south that takes local ingredients and turns them into classic dishes. Excellent wines accompany each meal and the dining area – beneath Tuscan arches held up by African-sculpted pillars – overlooks the river.
Safari activities abound with water- and land-based options every day. Early morning game drives in open 4x4 vehicles, led by a professional ranger – himself a wonder to behold – will take you in search of the abundant wildlife.
Riverboats provide an exhilarating wildlife encounter and you’ll be able to get close to the elephants that make Chobe famous – a little too close in some occasions.
Sundowner cruises offer a bit of self-reflection and a chance to congratulate yourself on fine choice of destination; the pool offers welcome refreshment and you always have the option of an in-room spa treatment from the resident therapist.
