12h00 Transfer to your lodge and flop into the pool before lunch.
13h00 Lunch is a Romanesque spread - you’ll need a light chardonnay to wash it down.
14h00 Cruise on a delta boat, stopping for birds, animals and plants along the way.
15h30 A revitalising cup of tea after another dip in that pool.
16h00 Strange as it may feel, get your warm clothes ready for the afternoon game drive; check your camera’s batteries and memory.
18h00 Toast the setting sun in true African tradition at some achingly scenic viewpoint.
19h00 Return to camp while your ranger uses his big beam to spot the nocturnal creatures.
20h00 Freshen up in your outdoor shower or soak in the bath with view.
20h30 Beguile your hosts and companions with your wit and total lack of wildlife knowledge over a gourmet dinner beneath the stars beside an open fire.
22h00 Easy on the wine – hard though it may be – you’ve got an early start; we’ll allow a nightcap while your ranger points out the constellations.
23h00 Safaris romantic? Balls, you’ll be snoring before you get to your room.
04h30 Was that a lion? No, go back to sleep.
05h30 If you thought the evening was a tad chilly, the morning game drive will be positively Arctic – and you’ll find out that a lion walked right through the camp last night.
09h30 The hippos will be answering your stomach as you attack breakfast
11h00 For the strong willed, a walking safari or riverboat cruise; for the even stronger willed, an hour-long spa treatment.
12h00 Time for a doze so that tonight you’ll be in better form
14h00 Would you look at that, it’s time to eat again and prepare for round two |
