Chitabe Camp is in a large private reserve in the Okavango Delta bordering the Moremi Game Reserve.
Intimate luxury and casual warmth are the cornerstones of Chitabe. The eight east-African style tents are raised on wooden platforms and shaded by a canopy of trees. The en suite bathrooms have additional outdoor showers and each room has a private viewing deck overlooking the floodplains.
The thatched and airy main lodge is connected to the rooms by elevated walkways and features a refreshing pool, comfortable lounge and game-viewing deck; an open campfire and an intimate dining room complete the luxury living arrangements.
Game viewing activities consist of daily day and night game drives and nature walks, which give you a true sense of Africa and a profound respect for the natural world.
The habitats within the 28,000-ha reserve include shallow waterways, endless open floodplains and dense acacia woodland. The result is a startling diversity of wildlife and birds. Predators in the area include lion, leopard, cheetah, hyena and wild dog; large mammals like elephant, hippo, buffalo, giraffe and zebra make up the vegetarian contingent.
Plains game such as reedbuck, kudu, impala, tsessebe, warthog and bushbuck are abundant by day; nocturnal wonders include the very rare pangolin, civet, genet, porcupine, serval, caracal and aardwolf.
