Camp Moremi

Okavango, Botswana

  • Comfortable and relaxed lodge
  • Overlooking the Xakanaxa Lagoon in the Okavango Delta
  • Excellent game viewing, birding and water activities

Camp Moremi is a comfortable and relaxed lodge with a dramatic location inside the Moremi Game Reserve.

Overlooking the Xakanaxa Lagoon (ka-KA-na-ka) and eyeballing the horizon many miles in the distance, the lodge is well placed for that classic African safari.

Eleven east-African style tented suites make up the camp. Each is raised on a wooden platform – to keep your feet dry during high water – and they are fitted with teak wardrobes, comfortable beds and amenities. A private bathroom and game-viewing deck add to the luxury.

The main lodge is built into giant ebony trees and the dining area, lounge, bar, viewing deck and swimming pool all look out over the lagoon.

Wildlife activities include game drives and water safaris, depending on water levels, and the Moremi has a diverse range of habitats including vast floodplains, dense savannah and marshy wetlands.

On your game-viewing, birding and sundowner outings you may encounter a vast array of mammals, birds and reptiles. Large predators that infiltrate the plains include cheetah, hyena, leopard, lion and the endangered wild dog. Elephant, rhino, buffalo, hippo make up the non-carnivorous contingent of the large mammals and a spread of antelope and plains game does the rest.
