Camp Okavango

Okavango, Botswana

  • Remote island lodge in the Okavango Delta
  • Twelve comfortable tented rooms
  • Water-based game viewing and walking safaris

Your boat transfer will set the tone from the start. Camp Okavango is in a watery wildlife paradise in the heart of the Okavango Delta.

Surrounded by water all year, the island has 11 tented rooms – one of which is a luxurious suite – that have en suite bathrooms and private decks shaded by trees that count their lucky stars every day for landing in such a fertile spot.

The thatched open-sided living area comprises a lounge, bar, dining area, open deck; and a pool, boma add to the outdoor experience while hammocks dotted about the island turn this idyllic setting into a paradise.

Game-viewing activities are mostly done on water with specialised delta boats, canoes, and traditional mekoro. Your professional guide will take you on walking safaris through the islands and between the waterways pointing out the incredible range of birds and mammals.

Riverine birdlife is a feature in this part of the delta with rarities such as Pel's fishing owl, African skimmer, white-backed night heron, bat hawk, wood owl, narina trogon and carmine bee-eater. The rare Bambi-like sitatunga skulks amongst the papyrus reeds and many other animals may be spotted on your water safaris and game walks.
