Primi Royal
Camps Bay, Cape Town
- A chunk of Bali in the heart of Camps Bay
- The mood is intoxicating
- Prime location for access to the beach and nightlife of Camps Bay
The Primi Royal hotel is a veritable shag palace designed to give you the romance and intrigue of a bygone colonial era. The rooms are individually decorated in a Balinese style with rich-coloured silks draped over four-poster beds; your room will be dressed in rose petals on arrival.
The hotel is small and intimate with only 10 rooms, and, being an easy walk to Camps Bay beach and its busy trade of cafes, restaurants and bars, you’ll be glad of its proximity in the wee hours of the night.
The relaxed, heady island theme is echoed in the open plan bar and lounge area where you can sink in to plush, leather-bound sofas and armchairs in front of a roaring fire in winter.
In the heat of summer, the main terrace is straight out of a Bogart flick, with its pool, loungers, cafe-style seating, and a twofold view of Camps Bay beachfront and the endless ocean beyond.
The hotel serves a simple breakfast and room service comes by way of Primi Piatti – their franchised pizza-pasta joint, serving large portions of good quality scoff and whose manic waiters make the effervescent hotel staff look docile.
You’ll be the type of person who wants to get out and straight into the thick of things; thus Primi Royal dropped the idea of a restaurant in favour of advising you about the many excellent venues down the road: Blues, Paranga, Codfather, Summerville, Baraza – the list goes on and they have it memorised.
