Cedrics Lodge
De Waterkant, Cape Town
- A new standard in personal service and genuine hospitality
- Stylish, colourful and well-appointed rooms
- Charming listed buildings in the slave-quarter turned gay village
Brazenly intimate and personal, Inge and Jutta will treat you as a friend who has come to visit and will do everything in their power to ensure you have a full and rewarding stay in Cape Town.
And indeed the first lodge, Cedric’s, was intended as a crash pad for visiting relatives when the sisters decided to call South Africa home. And home they call it in no uncertain terms, embracing culture and community in mayoral fashion with their own newsletter and regular community projects.
Inge is a world-beating business-woman turned guest house owner, and Jutta is an architect. Together they have produced three fabulous guest houses with a style and colour that reflects their own exuberance and the charm of De Waterkant village.
Cedric’s Lodge and Cedric’s Lemon Lodge each have four en suite rooms with balconies overlooking the colourful De Waterkant area, Table Mountain and the harbour below. Cedric’s Clown House is a bright yellow overspill a stone’s throw from the Lemon Lodge.
Decor is appealing and crammed with local artworks and the rooms are comfortably appointed with similar style. Communal living is encouraged with large lounges, full use of the open plan kitchens and of course Inge and Jutta and their equally garrulous team are less your tight-lipped hosts and more your private tour guides and personal planners.

Known as the gay village, De Waterkant is the epitome of Cape style and charm. The village is liberally sprinkled with beautiful people and crammed with eateries, night spots and services essential to a gay man’s well-being. |
