The Glen
Sea Point, Cape Town
- Guest house bent on exclusivity
- Four-star service with homely comfort and style
- Relaxed, casual atmosphere and plenty of delicious extras
The Glen was Cape Town’s first guest house exclusively for gay men and remains the icon of gay exclusivity in Sea Point; this is a family-affair in every sense of the word providing a casual atmosphere of sheer indulgence and relaxation.
Closeted by enormous palms and a mature and private garden, the Glen is a renovated house with high ceilings, wooden floors and large archways. Decor is a mix of Afro-chic with tasteful contemporary pieces and the result is a charm that sweeps through the house like a lemon-scented breeze on a hot summer’s day.
The 10 rooms are individually styled with distinctive themes ranging from African zest to colonial grandeur; the en suite bathrooms are a feature on their own with Italian fittings, marble finishes, twin vanity sets and double-volume showers.
Facilities have been created with the discerning gay traveller in mind: Moroccan-style steam room with plunge pool; large heated pool and sundeck with comfortable loungers; private massages at a moment’s notice; in-room refreshments and a well-stocked bar.
Breakfast, with a choice of healthy, skinny or totally self-indulgent, is included in your fare and the dining room provides a refreshing start to the day. You can request a private lunch or dinner by arrangement and a poolside menu is available during the summer.

Sea Point has many restaurants and cafés and, being on the main road, you’ll be within easy walking distance of all the best gay action; for a change of sunshine you can mosey down to Clifton’s Third Beach, where the pretty boys lurk. |

Sea Point is a lively blend of honking taxis, Mediterranean delis, swanky apartment blocks, and miles of kelp-scented ocean spray. |
