Klein Genot
Franschhoek, Cape Winelands
- Peace, tranquillity and singular beauty bounded by rivers and mountains
- Stupendous cellar and fresh organic meals
- Relax with spa treatments, lazy hammocks and poolside loungers
Clear skies, a bracing breeze, acres of lush vineyards, mill pond dams and misty mountains yonder; you can almost feel your lungs singing as you heave in great sacks of good clean air.
Rejuvenation. That’s what being at Klein Genot Wine and Country Estate is all about. That and being exceedingly kind to yourself. Bordered by two rivers and some towering mountains beyond, the guest house is a brightly decorated monument to The Good Life.
The six individually decorated suites are colour-coded and you’ve got red, cream, yellow, green, lilac and blue to choose from. Expect a private garden, fireplace, king size bed, en suite bathroom – with walk-in shower, oversized bath and twin vanities; and a home entertainment centre with satellite TV in case the great outdoors gets to be boring.
Food is organically reared on the estate and prepared with pride and, as befits a house of such stature, the cellar is scandalous – wine from 5,000 bottles waits to be uncorked, sucked on, swirled, gargled and spat out. Or you could have some with your dinner.
The grounds feature hammocks at strategic positions along gentle walks and the spa treatment menu will get your mouth watering – your neck, shoulders and back will join your lungs in a crescendo of gratitude.

Klein Genot is in the Franschhoek Valley a few minutes’ by car from the village and bordered by rivers, mountains and 20 acres of vineyard. |

Self-styled gastro capital of South Africa, the gentle Franschhoek Valley has nurtured a distinct French heritage and an oil baron’s price tag. |
