Erinvale Estate Hotel
Somerset West, Cape Winelands
- Elegant Cape Dutch manor house close to wine, food, sea and sun
- Gary Player championship golf course and Gingko Spa
- Large rooms, efficient and friendly staff and plenty of eating and drinking
Famous for its Gary Player championship course, the hotel offers resort-like facilities without the resort-like gaudiness that goes with it. Part of the Irish-owned and golf-mad Spectra group, Erinvale Estate Hotel and Spa is a comfortable and elegant destination that uses the Stellenbosch winelands as its back yard.
The main building is an original Cape Dutch manor and much of its charm has been captured and maintained throughout with thatched roofing, exposed log beams, reed ceilings and generous doses of colourful patterns and floral fabrics.
The 57 en suite rooms are large, luxurious and the facilities carry the stamp of a good hotel. All open onto the lush gardens and private courtyard with fountains and pathways and handy signs pointing the way to the pub.
An Irish theme pervades the eating and drinking options, of which there are many. The Blaskets Bar & Restaurant is the focal point of the activity offering a small array of simple dishes with the emphasis on fresh, good quality ingredients; Skelligs is a traditional Irish pub with a hearty lunch and dinner menu and the Shannon Room is where you’ll have breakfast the morning after.
The destination Gingko Spa at Erinvale has four treatment rooms, a steam room, indoor heated whirl pool, outdoor pool and sun deck and a relaxation area with a juice bar.
