Schulphoek Guest House
Schulphoek, Garden Route
- Charming guest house with an intimate and personal approach
- Luxurious rooms with an excellent restaurant and cellar
- Spectacular seafront location
Schulphoek (pronounced skilp-HOOK) is a charming guest house on the seafront with an intimate atmosphere that will have you humming, ‘Getting to know you, getting to know all about you...’ while you hover in your spa bath sipping on a glass of complimentary sherry.
A few miles from Hermanus in a protected bay, the guest house is an ornate converted holiday house with views over the bay and the forest-like garden at the back. The seven rooms have an elegant beach house character and are luxuriously fitted with percale linen, heated towel rails, gowns and slippers and inclusive coffee, tea, sherry and mineral water.
The restaurant offers a four-course menu du jour at the social table. Petro and Mannes will steer the conversation to a suitably relaxed level while chef prepares delicious meals using herbs and vegetables from the potager garden. The cellar has over 7,000 bottles and your appreciative ‘Ooh’ and ‘Aah’ will score you many points – ogle at their Lacanche-fitted kitchen and you’ll be an honoured guest for life.
Use the heated saline pool with loungers and cotton umbrellas, or request a spa treatment and you’ll be ready for your next outing; your hosts will be delighted to recommend activities and will go so far as to make arrangements for you while you laze by the pool, gazing out to sea trying to figure out where that song in your head comes from.
