Pezula
Knysna, Garden Route
- Award-winning resort and spa
- Five-star luxury and service
- An endless list of facilities and services
Winning awards left, right and centre – not least of which is one for sustainable development and environmental awareness – Pezula Resort and Spa occupies the upper echelons of the hospitality industry.
Meaning ‘Up there with the Gods’, Pezula is perched on the eastern sentinel of the Knysna Lagoon; like an impudent tight-rope walker, the resort peers down to the rocky coastline on one side and the Knysna Lagoon and Outinequa Mountains on the other.
The theme is modern, African and unashamedly grand with double volume hallways, black slate, water features, rough-hewn sandstone and African art – including a Mandela wall. The 78 suites, built into clusters of four, are scattered over the grounds to make best use of the special views. Décor is a stylish combination of African earth tones and 70s style retro patterns. Every comfort and amenity is provided, whether you’re in the palatial studio suite or the megalomaniac presidential.
The spa is worth a visit in itself. Voted the best in South Africa, it has an enormous heated pool, treatment rooms, sauna, steam room, jacuzzi and a ‘rain shower’.
After fine dining, sumptuous comfort and flawless service, sport is high on the agenda. A championship golf course – in a world-beating setting – and enough facilities to host the Olympics should keep you occupied.
Do try and leave the resort to explore the area though, it’s really quite nice.

The lagoon is protected by two large cliffs and Pezula occupies the eastern arm – the other is a nature reserve. Knysna is a short drive along millionaires mile. |
 |

With Alpine-like forests, rivers, lakes and lagoons, Knysna has all the charm it needs; the fine restaurants, shops and array of activities are superfluous. |
