Lone Creek River Lodge
Sabie, Kruger Park Surrounds
- Comfortable hotel with river frontage and large private gardens
- Palatial suites and large rooms with river and mountain views
- Excellent food and a well-stocked wine cellar
Take great lungfuls of the heady forest-scented air as you enter the little town of Sabie and wind your way past the sap-scented sawmills and through the mist-covered passes. This is forest country and you’re headed for a charming hotel on the banks of the Sabie River.
Looking like an alpine lodge with wood panelling, wood floors… wood everything, Lone Creek River Lodge is a relaxed and comfortable retreat into the pine-covered mountains. Rooms range from standard en-suite doubles to palatial riverside suites with log fires and beautiful wooden floors.
The rooms have double baths and private balconies overlooking the pool, garden, river and mountain – in that order; the suites have separate lounges and all the luxury you could ask for.
Dinners are an extended table d’hôte affair and you can opt for a romantic setting in the cellar. The lounges and swimming pool are relaxing asides and fireplaces everywhere set the cosy mountain lodge atmosphere.
In-house activities include fly fishing and gentle walks along the river or you can get the accommodating staff to arrange outside activities including hiking, mountain biking, horse riding, river rafting, rock climbing and abseiling, bird watching, 4x4 trips, gold-panning, sightseeing, or shopping for African arts, crafts and curios.

Lone Creek River Lodge slopes down to the Sabie River on the outskirts of the forest town of Sabie. |

The Mpumalanga area surrounding the Kruger Park is a mountainous realm of tranquillity; rivers plop through lush thickets and the mist swirls like a wispy ballet dancer. |
