Timamoon
Hazyview, Kruger Park Surrounds
- Luxurious and romantic lodge with eclectic décor
- Excellent food in an Indonesian-styled restaurant overlooking the valley
- Magnificent views and forest-softened tranquillity
Proudly proclaiming itself to be the most seductive lodge on the planet, Timamoon, soaring high above the Sabie River is indeed a romantic seclusion with views that came out of a Disney animation.
Timamoon comprises six ‘lodges’ each decorated with an eclectic mix of well-travelled artefacts spanning south-east Asia, east Africa and Morocco. With fireplaces, enormous baths overlooking the valley and rich-coloured drapes, the romance will make your stomach swoop. Four of the suites have private pools that spill into the valley below.
The restaurant is built on stilts Indonesian-style with layered thatch, bamboo roll-up blinds and wrap-around decks; banana trees swish in the breeze like elephants at a waterhole. Food is exotic as befits the ambience and the Asian, French and local influences have been combined with care and attention to detail.
After a few hours, the lethargy of romance will have set in and gentle walks, romantic dinners, aromatherapy massages and riverside picnics are the type of activity that will appeal to you most.
If you prefer a bit of a contrast you can try bird watching, fly fishing, horse riding, river rafting, balloon rides or slithering down a rock with a piece of rope tied to your belt.
The Kruger National Park and its Private Concessions are about an hour’s drive away making Timamoon the perfect compliment to your romantic safari adventure.

Timamoon is high up in the mountains overlooking the Sabie River valley about 20km west of Hazyview |

The area surrounding the Kruger Park is a mountainous realm of tranquillity; rivers plop through lush thickets and the mist swirls like a wispy ballet dancer. |
