Sabi Sand

Sabi Sands is a private game reserve adjacent to the Kruger National Park. In 1950 the fences between the two parks were dropped and the perennial rivers, the Sabi and the Sand, and the rich soil attracted a migrant field of wildlife that spans the gamut of the local ecosystems.

Comprising 24 individual reserves, each with a few luxurious lodges, Sabi Sands occupies 64,000 hectares of African bush on the western boundary above Skukuza.

Home to the ‘magnificent seven’ – lion, leopard, elephant, rhino (white and black), buffalo, cheetah and wild dog – hundreds of bird species and thousands of indigenous plants, Sabi Sands is one of the best wildlife reserves in the country.

Being a private reserve, your vehicle will be completely open for better viewing; your tracker can perch on the car’s edge for a better view and you can follow tracks and animals off road. You can also participate in optional walking safaris and night drives – exciting activities that are forbidden in the national park.

The reserves that make up Sabi Sands: Chitwa Chitwa (2), Djuma (2), Dulini, Elephant Plains, Exeter, Galago, Idube, Inyati, Kirkman's Camp, Leopard Hills, Lion Sands, Londolozi (2), MalaMala, Nkhoro, Nottens, Sabi Sabi (2), Savanna, Simbambili, Singita, Ulusaba.
