Lion Sands River Lodge
Sabi Sands, Greater Kruger Park
- Elegant relaxation in a luxurious riverside lodge
- Eighteen suites with sundecks overlooking the Sabie River
- ‘Magnificent seven’ game viewing and a fascinating wildlife encounter
A family farm for four generations since the early 1900s, Lion Sands has two five-star lodges along the banks of the Sabie River in the Sabi Sands Game Reserve.
The River Lodge is the larger, more relaxed of the two lodges offering five-star luxury.
The 18 suites, separated by raised boardwalks, are tranquil expanses of cream, lavender and dark brown. Each has an en suite bathroom with indoor and outdoor showers, private viewing deck looking over the Sabie River, air conditioning and mini bars.
With gourmet cuisine using exotic African venison – and some international standards for the less adventurous, River Lodge offers a variety of eating venues from the intimate dining room to whole nights out in the bush.
Add to this a large swimming pool surrounded by a game-viewing deck overlooking the river, an open-sided lounge with bottomless chairs, and a health and wellness spa and your luxury is complete.
Your wilderness experience will top every luxurious detail and the reserve’s private ecologist, rangers and trackers provide a holistic wildlife experience. Be the star of your own documentary on fascinating game drives, walking safaris, night walks, cultural tours, river tours and specialist seminars and expeditions.
