Kings Camp
Timbavati, Greater Kruger Park
- Luxurious thatched camp in the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve
- Personal service and reassuring attention to detail
- Track down the ‘magnificent seven’ and explore the African bush on foot
Aptly named, Kings Camp is a gilt-edged teak-filled lodge in the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve.
Overlooking a popular waterhole in the north-eastern corner, the camp is a regal representation of the early 1900s when time still and, to be endured, required every luxury imaginable – and some surprises to keep you amused.
The ten suites are palatial in size, appearance and amenity. Mosquito nets provide a four-cornered cocoon around your bed and the bathrooms have double indoor and outdoor showers.
You can give the imperial waistline a workout after the stately meals and a wellness and beauty spa will revive the royal senses; relax by the pool, in the library or in one of the lounges overlooking the wilderness and let time stand still.
Two game drives a day with your noble ranger and his faithful trackers will take you on a fascinating exploration of the African bush. In search of the ‘magnificent seven’ – lion, leopard, cheetah, rhino and elephant – you will pause to look at many other animals, birds, reptiles and even insects – your tracker is that sharp-eyed.
After a majestic breakfast you can join your ranger for a bush walk where you will learn about the plants, trees and smaller creatures that add the detailed tapestry to the kingdom of the African bush.
