Motswari
Timbavati, Greater Kruger Park
- Friendly and relaxed game lodge in the Timbavati
- Overlooking a dam and a river
- Track down the ‘magnificent seven’ and explore the African bush on foot
Motswari is a relaxed and friendly lodge with a high standard of luxury and service in the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve.
The lodge is a family-owned and run business, which translates into a genuine desire to make you enjoy yourself. The welcoming pub-like bar will certainly help in that respect, and the staff, hosts and managers will do the rest.
On the edge of an attractive dam, the lodge is a sturdy stone and thatch construction surrounded by lawn and large shady trees. The 15 luxury bungalows have air-conditioning, luxurious bathrooms and private patios that look out over the river and African bush.
Hearty accessible dinners are served in the boma on warm, dry evenings beside the crackle and hiss of an open fire and the pool has a magnetic view across the wilderness. If you absolutely must shop, the art gallery and curio shop offer a variety of African mementos.
The wildlife reigns supreme at Motswari – and so it should with such abundant numbers of game, including the ‘magnificent seven’ and some of the most unspoilt wilderness in the greater Kruger area.
Morning and evening game drives with your amiable tracker, who is in radio contact with the other vehicles, will see you traversing the enormous reserve in search of the spectacular predators, big game and plenty of interesting animals, plants, trees, birds and insects.
