Tanda Tula
Timbavati, Greater Kruger Park
- Close-up encounter with the raw African bush
- Luxury and romance in tented rooms with fabulous food and wine
- Track down the ‘magnificent seven’ and explore the African bush on foot
The African bush is invited to join you at Tanda Tula Camp where the tented rooms spill into the wilderness and animals roam through the grounds on their way to the age-old waterhole.
Twelve East African tents on raised platforms, comfortably furnished and with enormous bathrooms and a romantic outdoor shower, wind their way along the ephemeral Nhlaraluni River and small animals often pop in for tea.
The main lodge is a comfortable combination of fire-lit lounge, fire-lit dining area and a bar to fill those hovering in-between moments; the boma is an African-styled open eating area – fire-lit – and nothing is too much trouble for the fresh-faced staff who outnumber the guests two to one.
Breakfast is served in the bush in the shade of an old appleleaf tree beside a dry riverbed. Lunch is an epicurean extravaganza that mixes cold with hot, spicy with creamy and you’ll be wondering where to put that chocolate cheesecake. Dinner is an intimate and relaxed occasion and the real reason the camp is famous for its food.
Twice a day - your personal ranger and his sharp-eyed tracker will set about showing you the amazing African bush and its amazing animals, birds, reptiles and insects. Home to the ‘magnificent seven’ and much more, your wildlife and wilderness encounter will be unmatched for quality and quantity of sightings.
A mid-morning walking safari will provide a memorable first-hand encounter with the African bush – and a chance to walk off that extra chocolate croissant.
