Pilanesberg has a commercial airport that services Sun City Resort as well as the National Park. From Joburg – Africa’s central hub - you’ll barely have enough time to flip through the in-flight magazine before you touch down.
Lodges in the Madikwe Game Reserve operate private air strips for a quick one-hour hop from Joburg.
Gabarone is also a short flight away making Sun City and its surrounding Malaria-free Game Reserves a convenient add-on to the famous Botswana safari circuit.

For total flexibility, we can arrange car hire for you at competitive prices with reputable international companies. The drive from Joburg to Sun City Resort and Pilanesberg National Park takes up to three hours and Madikwe is a further hour or two along the way.
All of the lodges are accessible in a sedan, although driving through or after a heavy thunderstorm in peak summer can be a bit of a white-knuckle experience. At the lodges your game drives are done in custom-fitted off-road vehicles so you won’t need your car at all. |

Mercifully unnecessary. Once you get to your lodge or hotel, all game drives and activities are done in special custom-made safari vehicles. Your itinerary may well include the Sun City Resort, which has a transport infrastructure of its own and runs a shuttle service to and from the airport. |

Sitting for three hours in a game-viewing vehicle may provide some exercise for your neck muscles and your camera finger but not much else. Many of the lodges have gyms and health spas but the obvious choice would be to join your ranger on an interpretive bush walk where he’ll tell you interesting details about the trees, plants and animals along the way.
Sun City Resort has an enormous forest (man-made of course) with hiking trails, water features, thousands of fascinating plants species and plenty birdlife. If you can scrape yourself off your sun lounger, exercise in the resort takes on as many forms as you can dream up. |
