Madikwe Hills is a gloriously stuffy mansion-lodge built into and around a large rocky outcrop. The décor has received several coats of style and the whole place oozes grandeur.
The large suites follow the contours of the hill and their private decks and plunge pools overlook the waterhole and the vast plains beyond. Air-conditioning, mini bars, enormous beds with crisp cotton linen and draped mosquito nets complete the luxury while the sophisticated décor adds to the decadence.
Little Madikwe is a double-suited presidential lodge separate from the main lodge. On top of the supreme luxury, the suite comes with a private game-viewing vehicle and a personal chef.
The main lodge has a gym and health spa; a wine cellar; a small library and a sundeck and pool. Dining is suitably first class with a silver service experience beneath the stars to the light of a flickering campfire.
The game viewing at Madikwe is exceptional. The ‘magnificent seven’ and plenty of other species of wildlife are tracked down by your amiable and really rather knowledgeable ranger.
Safari activities include daily game drives – early morning and late afternoon into the evening – and optional interpretive walking safaris that will have you craving for more.
