Madikwe Safari Lodge
Madikwe Game Reserve, Sun City
- Luxurious and sensual lodge with an understated sophistication
- Large and comfortable suites with private decks and plunge pools
- Excellent game viewing and wilderness experience
Madikwe Safari Lodge is an organic, textured lodge that blends into the surrounding bushveld like cheese on the moon.
Sixteen spacious suites are divided into three camps that orbit the comfortable living area. Rusty hues of brown and orange merge with the timber and thatch chalets - inspired by the anthills that characterise the rocky savannah plains of the Madikwe Game Reserve.
Each suite has a separate living area, an open fireplace, a spacious dressing area with a mini bar, an en suite bathroom with additional outdoor shower and a private plunge pool on the secluded deck.
The main lodge is casual and relaxed with fireplaces dotted all over the show, a pizza oven, a covered deck padded with beanbags and scatter cushions; the swimming pool and sundeck look out over the endless African bush. Dinner is served in the evocative open-air boma by the light of a campfire and hurricane lamps.
Game viewing in the Madikwe Game Reserve is exceptional. The famed ‘big five’ plus cheetah and a large population of wild dog offer plenty of exciting game drives while the big game, hordes of antelope and smaller creatures are a diverse representation of the various habitats in the region.
Birdlife is also spectacular with over 350 recorded species, rare pairings and several Kalahari specials: Namaqua and double-banded sand-grouse, Kalahari and white-browed scrub-robins, red-eyed and dark-capped bulbuls, and arrow-marked and southern pied babblers.
