Ivory Tree Lodge
Pilanesberg National Park, Sun City
- Large and comfortable lodge in the Pilanesberg National Park
- Spacious chalets overlooking a waterhole
- Excellent game viewing
Ivory Tree Lodge is a large, independent hotel/lodge combination in the north-east region of the Pilanesberg National Park.
Shaggy thatched roofs peak through the trees of the sprawling complex. Stone walls, African-bush tones and a double-volume living area make for an attractive close inspection.
The 60 chalets are spread around along the ridge of a bowl-shaped valley overlooking a man-made waterhole. Each is a spacious combination of bedroom, sitting area, en suite bathroom with outdoor shower, and a private verandah. The rooms all have air conditioning, tea/coffee and a mini bar.
The living area accommodates groups and couples with equal comfort and has two lounges with large stone fireplaces, a bar and cocktail lounge, a tiered dining room and an open-air boma.
The wellness spa, swimming pool and sundeck overlooking the waterhole should receive a good deal of your attention in between exciting game drives.
You are assigned a personal ranger on arrival who will do his utmost to provide you with a wilderness experience that lasts a lifetime – or until your next visit. Morning and evening game drives focus on the big game that Pilanesberg is famous for: lion, leopard, cheetah, wild dog, both types of rhino, elephant, buffalo, hyena, zebra, giraffe, large antelope and many rare and lesser-known animals.
Birdlife is also spectacular and with a range of habitats and a transition from lush bushveld to the semi-arid Kalahari results in many interesting pairings and plenty of residents.
