Tshukudu Bush Lodge
Pilanesberg National Park, Sun City
- Intimate and luxurious lodge on a rocky hilltop overlooking a waterhole
- Spacious suites with private balconies and double-baths with a view
- Excellent game viewing in an exclusive section of Pilanesberg National Park
Legacy Hotels has three self-styled bush lodges in the Pilanesberg National Park catering for a variety of tastes and pockets.
With just six private chalets Tshukudu Bush Lodge (pronounced choo-KU-du) is the most exclusive and luxurious of the three. Beneath a lush canopy of trees, the lodge is built into a large rocky hillside with sweeping views of the beautiful park and a dam below it.
The suites are built with stone and covered with rough whitewashed plaster; granite tiles and high thatch roofs keep you cool while the open fireplace and air-conditioning will fix what nature and good architecture can’t.
When you leave your private balcony and its magnificent view, you will find a rather large suite inside: a double bed and two singles, open plan lounge with fireplace, sunken bath-shower overlooking the plains, mini bar, hair dryer and a tea/coffee station.
The main lodge is a stone and thatch construction surrounded by gnarled trees and a stone sundeck and rocky swimming pool – which, after your hike up the hill, will be manna from the gods.
The lodge offers sunrise and sunset game drives with your personal ranger and optional guided bush walks for anyone whose legs survived the climb. As an added plus, this section of the park is closed to day trippers so you’ll have an intimate encounter with the ruggedness, the beauty and the terrifying animals.
