Livingstone Zambia
Until recently, Livingstone played second fiddle to the town of Victoria Falls due entirely to its distance from the falls themselves. Livingstone is about 10 km upstream, whereas its Zimbabwean counterpart couldn’t be closer to the falls.
Since Zimbabwe’s demise, the historical town has been cashing in on the diverted tourist dollar and without raising a sweat has exploded from a shabby trading town with budget accommodation into a shabby trading town with upmarket accommodation.
There are some attractions in and around Livingstone but after the splendour of the falls and the romance of the river, these may pale somewhat in significance. The history museum, housed in a restored Edwardian building, is a piece of history itself; craft markets abound and there is an 18-hole golf course nearby. The Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park is a well-stocked game park with elephant, buffalo, antelope, giraffe and the country’s only white rhinos.
The river is lined discreetly with luxurious lodges and hotels all with pools, bars and restaurants and offering shuttle services to the main attractions. The town has provisions and amenities to keep you covered during your stay and you can book all your activities in Livingstone with local tour operators offering every activity from Abseiling to White Water Rafting.
At Out2Africa we would love nothing better than to send you on the safari holiday of a lifetime so simply contact Out2Africa to book your special tailormade itinerary, companions not included but welcome!
