The Zambezi Sun
Livingstone, Zambia
- Prime location next to the falls
- Activities and facilities galore
- Food, drink, entertainment and a rather enticing pool
The budget option in a massive resort, the Zambezi Sun knocks the socks off more prestigious hotels with its proximity to the falls. Like her more upmarket sister, The Royal Livingstone [link to Royal Livingstone], the thunder of the falls is constant and you’d be forgiven for thinking you were by the sea and that huge storm clouds were brewing.
Newly built and decorated with a liberal African hand using bright patterns and heavy colours, the Zambezi Sun offers a casual atmosphere and a convenient place to stay while enjoying the benefits of hefty procurement power - in this under-supplied region - from its well-to-do relative.
Within sleep-walking distance of the river’s edge, the rooms are spacious and air conditioned – a must in this sub-tropical oven – with bold colours and mosaics mimicking the traditional African styles of the area.
Dining is in a central indoor-outdoor pavilion with chefs doing their bit in full show of the restaurant. The atmosphere is relaxed and the dishes original – no chicken á la king or vegetable lasagnes here. The Poolside Grill offers refreshing lunches and even more refreshing drinks – you guessed it, by the pool; Squires, in the entertainment centre, is a taste of what African’s are mad about: grilled meat; the Croc Cafe coffee shop caters for the less carnivorously inclined.
Once you’ve settled in, the Entertainment Centre will be your first port of call where you can plan your outings, hire bikes and generally get sucked into the excitement that the energy of the falls creates. |

The Zambezi Sun is almost in the falls it is so close; you have unlimited access to the Zambian side of the falls and can walk across to the Zimbabwean side if you’re feeling energetic – or catch a shuttle if you’re not. |

Seventh Natural Wonder, adventure capital, wildlife destination and home to some rather splendid hotels, the Victoria Falls will capture your heart. |
