Private, exclusive, luxurious wildlife destination – are we speaking your language? Matetsi River Lodge is a world apart in an enormous conservation area adjoining the Chobe National Park with mile upon mile of private river frontage and about 45 minutes from Victoria Falls.
Spread out along the Zambezi, Matetsi is split into three tiny lodges each with six enormous suites so private a curtain-twitcher would need more than a telescope to follow your comings and goings.
Bask in your private plunge pool, cool off in the open-air shower or languish on your deck overlooking the river with some magic potion from your personal bar. Eat all you can in the sublime dining area beneath a dense canopy of trees because you’ll need your strength to take on the numerous bush activities that make Matetsi famous - despite the sumptuous suites, fabulous food and attentive service.
The private concession covers 50,000 hectares with 15km of the Zambezi River running through it and wildlife occupancy is high – elephant, buffalo, lion, leopard, all kinds of antelope including the rare roan and sable, wild dog, hyena, a gazillion birds and the list goes on. Professional guides will take you on game drives, canoe safaris, birding excursions, bush walks, night drives and sedate river cruises. In addition there is a daily complimentary shuttle to the Victoria Falls where the list of activities doubles. Now you see why you’ll need your strength.

The Zambezi River and the African bush are about all you’ll see for miles around; that and some fairly large congregations of wildlife. And Victoria Falls is not far away. |
