Itinerary
Day 1 - 4: Cape Town
Pick up your hired car on arrival at Cape Town airport and drive to your hotel – about 20 minutes if you don’t get too lost. Cape Town and the Cape Peninsula are easy to navigate and the roads are well sign-posted – but do get hold of a good street map beforehand.
You’ve got four days to explore the joys of Cape Town at your own pace: beaches, Cape Peninsula, Table Mountain, restaurants, bars and the list goes on until next year when you return.
• Sprinklings of Fairy Dust: Cape Milner • Heaps of Fairy Dust: The Bay Hotel
Day 5 - 6: Cape Winelands
The scenic drive to the picturesque winelands village of Franschhoek takes up to an hour and a half. Check in to your hotel, get the low down from your host and start exploring. There are nature reserves, beautiful mountain ranges, rivers, cheese farms, picnic sites and more besides the obvious wine tours.
• Sprinklings of Fairy Dust: Le Franschhoek • Heaps of Fairy Dust: La Residence
Day 7 - 9: Greater Kruger National Park
Cape Town Airport is an hour’s scenic drive from Franschhoek. After an early start you’ll be on your way to Kruger Mpumalanga Airport and a quick charter flight from there to your lodge.
You will arrive in time for lunch, a doze and your first game drive, which sets off mid-afternoon and returns after dark in time for your next feast. The rest of your safari is a heavenly routine of eating, sleeping and game viewing – either by road or on foot.
• Sprinklings of Fairy Dust: Hamilton’s Tented Camp • Heaps of Fairy Dust: Royal Malewane
Day 10: Joburg
After your final morning game drive and one last breakfast feast, you will transfer to the nearby airstrip for a scheduled charter flight back to Joburg and the end of glorious African extravaganza.
