Itinerary
Day 1: Mpumalanga
Collect your hired car from Joburg Airport and set off on the four-hour drive to Mpumalanga. The route is simple and the roads are well sign-posted. The first half of the journey will disappear in a rather uneventful yawn; the second half will rise sheer into the clouds and take you through spectacular mountain passes and scenic routes.
• Sprinklings of Fairy Dust: Lone Creek Lodge • Heaps of Fairy Dust: Cybele Forest Lodge
Day 2: Mpumalanga
Explore the region’s magnificent scenery: waterfalls, canyons, potholes, historical towns, mountain villages and endless views at every turn.
• Sprinklings of Fairy Dust: Lone Creek Lodge • Heaps of Fairy Dust: Cybele Forest Lodge
Day 3 – 4: Greater Kruger National Park
A gentle two-hour drive will get you to your lodge in the Kruger Park. Aim to be there by 1pm and in time for a fabulous lunch, a light doze, a dip in the pool and your first game drive in the afternoon.
Your early morning game drives, bush walks and sunset safaris will be interrupted by sumptuous meals, rejuvenating spa treatments or poolside dozes.
• Sprinklings of Fairy Dust: Mantobeni Camp • Heaps of Fairy Dust: Londolozi Tree Camp
Day 5: Joburg
An early morning game drive and one last breakfast will wrap up your African safari. Drive back to Joburg Airport via those same scenic passes; the trip should take between five and six hours.
